Puerto Banús, towards a sustainable future The luxurious Puerto Banús, located in Marbella, will launch a work plan to comply with the objectives set in the 2030 Agenda, for which it will increase its efforts in matters related to the protection of the oceans or the reduction of pollution, as announced this Wednesday by its CEO, Juan Núñez Insausti.

Thus, the representative of the nautical venue has highlighted that this “stands out from the rest of the European marinas and becomes one of the first international ports to adhere to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)” approved by the United Nations General Assembly. in 2015, which seek to end poverty, protect our planet and guarantee peace and prosperity for all people.

Regarding them, Núñez recalled that the UN has established 17 to “make our world a better place to live in the coming years”, highlighting that “the business sector plays a fundamental role, since companies can contribute in some way in many of the goals and actions established in each of these objectives.”

Within the new Plan for the implementation and compliance of the SDGs of Puerto Banús, the tourist enclave has chosen to increase its efforts those linked mainly to the fight for the protection of the oceans, biodiversity, responsible consumption and the reduction of pollution, without leaving aside the rest of the objectives and goals that make up this initiative promoted by the United Nations.

To this end, the nautical venue has carried out prior work to differentiate from the 169 goals suggested by the UN for the 2030 Agenda, those that directly affect the activity of a marina with the characteristics of Puerto Banús, and those that 83 have been selected from which you can contribute to minimize your environmental impact and develop your action plan.

Of these 83 goals, Núñez pointed out that “53.38% of them have already been achieved or are in the pipeline,” among which are the sustainable management of water in its operations, with a strict consumption and reuse policy. ; the use of efficient and sustainable technologies to improve the management of natural resources in the company's activities and reduce the environmental impact; the integration of the culture of fighting climate change in the supply chain, requiring certifications and environmental policies from its suppliers and calculating their emissions; or the reduction of the use of toxic substances, plastics and non-biodegradable materials in the cycle of products and services of companies.
