Government help to buy ecological cars in Madrid increases when an old one is handed over

Government help to buy ecological cars in Madrid increases when an old one is handed over The Madrid City Council has approved six lines of subsidies within the Cambia 360 plan, which aims to "promote sustainable mobility and energy efficiency to continue reducing polluting emissions in the city", as explained this Thursday by the delegate of Urban Planning, Environment and Mobility, Borja Carabante. This aid focuses on the acquisition of vehicles for individuals, increasing electric charging infrastructure or promoting micromobility. In addition, it seeks to help with the purchase of goods vehicles, the renewal of taxis and stimulate the replacement of boilers and air conditioning systems. These grants can be requested from April 24 to June 7.

The call that is most popular among Madrid residents, within the Cambia 360 Plan, is the one aimed at the renewal of passenger cars for private use, for which the City Council reserves 14 million euros. In this edition, the base aid is reduced from 6,000 to 4,500 euros for the acquisition of a ZERO vehicle and from 3,000 to 2,500 euros for an ECO vehicle. In the case of purchasing a C vehicle, voluntary destruction continues to be a mandatory condition to be able to receive the 2,500 euros subsidy.

However, this year they increase the amounts of the scrapping incentive, since the City Council seeks to encourage the delivery of vehicles to convert them into scrap metal. Therefore, if a man from Madrid gives up his old car to buy a ZERO one, the bonus he receives increases from 2,500 to 4,000 euros. If the purchase is from an ECO, it goes from 2,500 to 3,000 euros. In this way, if the base aid is added to this incentive, you can receive up to 8,500 euros for the acquisition of a ZERO vehicle and up to 5,500 euros for an ECO. These amounts may increase by 20% with other social conditions, such as a large family or disability.

In this call, the City Council focuses on the implementation of charging points in private residential parking lots and in parking lots for residents. For the first case, the recipient may receive up to 75% of the eligible cost, with a maximum aid of 75,000 euros; for the second, up to 90% of the eligible cost, up to 250,000 euros. For the first time, with the aim of facilitating the implementation of these facilities, Madrid City Council will advance the subsidy money. The deadline for submitting applications is from May 9 to July 8.
